put a blanket on it...
These are before and after shots of our coffee table, which doubles as a large leather ottoman. The first pictures are of a plywood tray we had on it. It felt sad to me so I began thinking about what exactly belongs in a living room on a glorified ottoman.
The simple answer was a blanket, so I carved one out of mahogany. It is a study in making the hard look soft and the soft act hard. There’s just enough wavy areas to fool the eye and just enough flat areas to place a drink or a TV remote. It’s about 2’ x3’. A great joy to make it!
